Ameer Abdullah, running back for the Nebraska Cornhuskers, really helped himself at the Senior Bowl. The comparison the scouting world made with Abdullah were to Warrick Dunn coming in. He is smaller but they love his vision, explosive jump cuts, acceleration to get through a hole and good speed.
They also like his reliable hands as a receiver out of the backfield and what he does with the ball in space. They like his willingness over his ability in pass protection, picking up blitzes. The scouting world especially loves how quick-thinking and instinctive he is with the ball in his hands, always seeming to make the right read.
What they don’t like is his size at 5’8″ and (198) two pounds on the wrong side of 200. That lack of size causes him to struggle in pass protection but he also struggles with recognizing who’s coming. Then he had some problems with holding on to the football during his career at Nebraska.
So he showed up at Senior Bowl week ready to show he was one better.
