The Book on Allen
The first thing scouting world sees in Allen is his build at a muscular 6’1″, 220 pounds with big thighs. They like his musculature to take the pounding running backs take running the ball inside. Then they like the leg-drive his thighs produce to help him get all those extra yards after contact.
They also like his patience to wait for plays to develop and burst to get through the hole once they do. They really like his hands to catch the ball out of the backfield and ability to protect the quarterback. But what the scouting world likes most is that he comes from a pro style offense so he’ll be able to contribute right way.
What they don’t like is that they don’t believe that Allen is a big-play back that has breakaway speed. They also say that he doesn’t have the greatest balance when he’s tripped up by a defender. Then they add that he has plenty of room to get tripped up because he has a high-cut frame with long legs.
