Round, 2: Denzel Perryman

Last week, I had Devin Smith as the Raiders’ 2nd-round-pick but the secret is out about him. So as he goes late in the first round, the Raiders go defense again with Denzel Perryman, an inside linebacker. Miles Burris is the worst Mike-backer in the NFL and excuse my grammar but head coach Jack Del Rio ain’t havin’ that!

He will be an immediate impact player himself as he comes from a pro style defense and pro ready. He also played in a conference (ACC) the mostly used pro style offenses so the Xs and Os will come easy to him. And with that, he already is and will continue to good at diagnosing plays.

He also sheds blocks well and avoids them and he can go sideline to sideline to get to ball carriers against the run. And at 5’11”, he low to the ground so he changes direction well to cover backs and tight ends or zero in on ball carriers as he tackles well. He doesn’t just tackle well though, he’s every bit the hard hitter the Raiders need to intimidate and reestablish Raider football.
