Round, 6: Adam Shead
Oklahoma Sooners guard Adam Shead is that huge offensive lineman the Raiders traditionally have. That’s the part of getting off the bus and the opposing team seeing him and saying, “I have to play against him?” But Shead is about more than that has he is a road grater and an above average pass-blocker.
Del Rio and McKenzie are bringing back that Raider brand of smash-mouth football the Raiders were traditionally known for. At 6’4″, 340 pounds, Shead does nothing but fit that mold of huge men playing offensive line for the Raiders. The sixth round is right about that place that you want to add depth to your team so you don’t suffer too much when starters are injured.
The Raiders definitely need a good player there just in case Jackson or Iupati, who I have as a Raider via free agency, go down at some point. If he stays with the team long enough, he just might end up replacing Iupati when he retires. Of if he’s really that good early, McKenzie has trade assets as there’s premium on huge man who can block.
