The Book on Jones

At 6’3″, 258 pounds, it all starts with Jones’ size and power that the scouting world is absolutely in love with. His college position coach, Mike Tressel, told MSUSpartans.com, “Taiwan Jones has all the physical measurables NFL teams love. In addition, he delivers a blow unlike anyone we’ve ever coached. Taiwan is so powerful that he has the ability to stun offensive lineman.”

And the scouting world loves that along with his long arms that help him shed blocks easily. They also love his closing speed and his feet as he breaks down under control to get in tackling position. Then they say he flashes play-recognition skills based on what formation the opposing offense comes out in.

But the scouting world believes he’s raw in his read and recognition ability and he’s late to locate the ball. They also say he gets undisciplined at times causing him to overrun plays and overreact to play fakes. Then they pegged him as a 2-down linebacker that doesn’t have the athleticism to play on third down.
