What I See
The only thing I could fully agree with is that once he solidly gets his hands on you, your done. I also see that he’s a good run-blocker but I don’t see him as a dominant run-blocker they make him out to be. I believe that some of the scouts and the All-American voters watched his games against Ball State and Northern Iowa.
I looked more at the games he played against some at-least-on-Iowa’s level competition. In 2013, he put then sophomore Danielle Hunter on the 2015 draft prospects list getting abused by him. Like the short armed, slow handed man he is, going against a guy with speed and length was too much for him.
To add insult to injury, (to his pride) the 6’6″, then 235-pounder got underneath him and jacked him on a running play. And that wasn’t just one game either because when he played against Maryland sophomore outside linebacker Yannik Ngakoue got to the quarterback by simply stiff-arming him with one and Scherff was badly bull-rushed all day in the game.
