What I see
I still think Gordon is special, but I’m going to make up a word here and say Coleman is specialer. Gordon has a little more wiggle, but Coleman is bigger, stronger, and dare I say the high school track star is faster. His head coach, Kevin Wilson told Sporting News.com, “He’s extremely fast, very decisive and he’s a track guy. He runs like he runs 200 meters and he gets excellent burst.”
I also see how well he catches the ball and picks up the blitz, giving him a leg up on Gordon. It’s going to be interesting to see what he runs his 40 in, but keep in mind humans sprint at max velocity for 40 yards to 60. So regardless of what his 40-time is, good or bad that’s not the full effect of Coleman’s true speed.
Once he gets out ahead, no one catches him from behind like I’ve seen Gordon get hawked (caught from behind) anyway. And I don’t agree with what the scouting world says about his patience, because I saw plenty with him. As for his system, it was the shotgun, but the same look as I-formation plays. As a matter of fact, he was lined up behind the quarterback in that shotgun.
