The Book on Peat

As it always does, it starts with the fact that Peat looks the part of an NFL left tackle. The scouts love his straight-up-and-down build with long limbs and thick thighs. I guess the best way to describe it is he looks like an over-sized athlete but still an athlete.

The scouting world loves those long arms so he can touch his man from a longer distance, giving him first punch and control. They also love the strength in his thick thighs as it enables him to anchor and stop bull rushers in their tracks. But the part they can’t see at first glance that they like is the sweet, dancing bear feet he has to slide as needed.

What they don’t like is in the run-game, he comes out of his stance too high and doesn’t explode through his hips to drive opponents back. Then when pass blocking, they say he gets lazy and bends at the waist instead of the knees, leaning to open himself up to counter-moves.
