What I See

I have to agree with the scouting world about his build, in that he doesn’t look like your typical cake-eating nose tackle. And I guess that’s why he’s so athletic, explosive off the ball and has that closing speed. That strength and power are also there too as he usually has an offensive lineman playing on skates.

When he’s near his own goal line, he explodes out of his stance and knocks his man into the backfield to blow plays up. With that speed and quickness, he has the lateral agility to go tackle to tackle, making plays in the backfield. And I have to disagree with the scouting world about his pass rush because he can do that.

He has very quick hands to either slap hands away or puts a quick swim move on an opposing lineman. I also like his motor for a man his size as he showed it in the Rose Bowl against Oregon’s no-huddle. And like the scouting world, I would like to see him recognize cut-blocks sooner to avoid going to the ground.
