There was a time that I would have never thought the Raiders would have made this pick at this time. Receiver prospect Ty Montgomery was looked at as a 1st-round pick coming into the year but fell down a round because a of a bad year. Then during Senior Bowl Week, he was measured at 5’11”-and-some-change instead of his listed 6’2″.
He also had some drops during Senior Bowl Week to confirm the scouts’ concerns from the season. So on most of the draft boards I’ve seen, Montgomery has fallen all the way down to the fourth round. I thought he was going to be a modern-day Tim Brown but Brown had great hands to where he didn’t even have to wear gloves.
But he’s still a good return man, can play in the slot and even play some running back at 216 pounds.
