Trae Waynes Runs Into Top 10
Corner prospect Trae Waynes was already looked at as a first round talent coming into the combine. At 6’0″, 193 pounds, he has pretty good length for a corner with arms that are 31-inches long. And he uses them well in man-to-man coverage, especially bump-and-run, constantly disrupting routes.
That length is also good for batting down or contesting catches when the ball comes his way. At the same time, Waynes is good in run support and is a reliable tackler that doesn’t mind sticking his head in there. The only question the scouts had about Waynes was his physical strength as he was projected to go somewhere in the 20s in the draft.
And at the 2015 NFL Scouting Combine, Waynes proved that he was strong and more athletic than the scouts already thought he was. Waynes fintshed fourth among all defensive backs with 19 reps of 225 on the bench press. He had a solid vertical leap of 38 inches and killed the 40-yard dash with a 4.31 to show just what kind of make-up speed he has.
This kid has everything else so that 4.31 has to put him in the top 10.
