Kiko Alonso Trade

Kelly is taking fire for trading McCoy, who’s still in his prime, for Alonso from the Buffalo Bills. Alonzo did tear an ACL last year but he is a future-star in the NFL that should have been rookie of the year in 2013. The Eagles were ranked No. 28 in total defense in 2014 so Kelly’s priority is to fix that as he believes he can always find guys that fit his offensive system.

And McCoy, leading the NFL in rushing 2013 and not playing well until the end of 2014, complained about the way Kelly ran the program. McCoy complained about Kelly’s training methods and that became a problem in the locker room Kelly had to get rid of.  And instead of hitting the hole like he did in 2013, he started dancing in a system that requires him to hit the hole.

So he traded him for a good football player that he knows can play in his defensive system. But all anyone could focus on was the fact that Kelly just added his ninth Duck to the roster. That trade was a win for both sides as Kelly gets a linebacker that fits his system and can be a leader on his team.
