Charles Clay
In the latest twist involving tight end Charles Clay, Buffalo Bills.com’s Chris Brown tweeted that the Miami Dolphins are now trying to sign him to a long-term deal. You wouldn’t think that was their plan after they went ahead and signed tight end Jordan Cameron. Clay has the rare transition tag the on him so he can receive offers while the Dolphins can match the offer to keep him.
AFC East rival Buffalo Bills have been linked to Clay so the Dolphins may be playing tug a war to keep him away from the Bills. This is likely why the Dolphins look like they’ll match any offer from Buffalo while trying to secure a deal. If they do secure that deal, the Dolphins can trade him and get something for him while controlling where he goes.
The Dolphins certainly don’t want to play against Clay twice a year while not getting anything in return. NFL.Com’s Kevin Patra reported that after his visit with the Bills, Clay is will visit the Cleveland Browns. Anything could happen but I seriously doubt the Bills allow a player as talented as Clay to go to a division rival for free.
His best fit are Buffalo and Cleveland too.
