According to our nation’s laws and the NFL’s rules, defensive end Greg Hardy can play football at some point in 2015. And the Dallas Cowboys figured it might as well be for them as they got Hardy to sign on the dotted line. Beaten in the playoffs last year by a one-legged Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers, the Cowboys were desperate for an edge-rusher.

And Hardy gives them just that as he had 15 sacks in 2013, his last full season in the NFL. The deal is for one year at $11.3 million that can push up to $13 million, suggesting the Cowboys are all in for this year. And at the same time, if the talented defensive player messes up his second chance, the Cowboys can get out without problems.

The money they saved in letting running back Demarco Murray Walk has officially been put to good use. Darren McFadden will go to Dallas and ball out as he is more of a breakaway threat Murray ever was anyway. So while the offense has lost absolutely nothing, the defense gets the one thing they were most desperate for to make a Super Bowl run.

Now, the Cowboys are a couple of draft picks away from being a threat to the NFC champion Seattle Seahawks. It is in that draft that they can find a run-stuffing defensive tackle and another solid corner. And of course, that’s assuming Hardy doesn’t have any problems off the field with the law or otherwise.
