The debate over quarterbacks Jameis Winston and Marcus Mariota has finally come to a merciful end. So now, we all know that Winston is going to be drafted by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. And being picked No. 1 overall as a quarterback today is grounds for a comparison to Indianapolis Colts quarterback Andrew Luck.
ESPN draft analyst Todd McShay’s evaluations have Winston right underneath Luck.
"“Andrew Luck would be the only one [ahead of Winston],” McShay said. “If you’re just grading off of what you see on tape, he’ll have the second-highest quarterback grade that I’ll have given in the last 10 years. If you really look at it, his anticipation, the accuracy, the way he can extend plays. I know he’s not fast. We saw that. He didn’t jump well. He didn’t run well. Who cares? He extends plays with his strength, his anticipation, his feel inside the pocket. That’s what’s special about him.”"
On the field, the two very similar as they are both pitchers with college baseball experience. The both big men that move around pretty well for quarterbacks their size as they sneak past you. And Winston journey appears to be taking the same direction as Luck’s did, barring a bad pick or trade at the draft.
