Round, 1: Leonard Williams

A couple NFL Mock Drafts ago, I had the Raiders taking receiver Kevin White at No. 4 overall. I was starting to think consensus No. 1 overall prospect Leonard Williams would be taken at No. 2. But lately, there’s been talk of the Tennessee Titans, who pick No. 2, taking Marcus Mariota or trading the pick.

So now, it’s back to Williams as the Jacksonville Jaguars will pick edge-rusher Dante Fowler at No. 3. So the childhood Raiders fan goes to the Raiders, giving them a dominant defensive lineman. Joining Justin tuck, Dan Williams, and Khalil Mack up front will give them the pass-rush they need to deal with quarterbacks like Peyton Manning and Philip Rivers.

This pick gives the Raiders another star on that defense to go with Khalil Mack and Charles Woodson. And the Defense is built around Williams and Mack for hopefully the next 10-12 years to come. There’s no need for a guy like Ndamukong Suh and all that money when you have a hungry Williams trying to earn such a pay-day.
