Round, 4: Ty Montgomery
This draft class is deep at the receiver position so there are still some nice prospects left here. One in particular is Ty Montgomery, who’s flying very low under the radar as he comes off a bad year. Then he compounded it with a bad Senior Bowl week and a bad combine with a 4.55-40.
Then according to CBSSportsCom, Montgomery lost 10 pounds and ran a 4.38 at his pro day. Montgomery said of his improvement, “I was lighter and felt more flexible, I’ve shed 10 pounds and got my stride back.” “Most importantly, I was able to sleep. At the combine, I got no sleep. I didn’t go to bed until 1:30 a.m. and woke up at 6 a.m. to go perform.”- Rob Rang, NFLDraftScout.com
The Raiders were there at his pro day in full force because it’s right down the street in Palo Alto. As watered down as it may be, Montgomery reminds me of Tim Brown with his ability to run out of the backfield, in the return game and at receiver. And now, I know that speed I saw on tape isn’t just something I imagined—the only thing is will Montgomery stay this low.
