Round, 5: Ryan Russell

The Raiders like Benson Mayowa as depth at defensive end but they need more than that. They particularly need it at base-end behind Justin Tuck as you can never have enough edge-rushers. There’s a guy named Ryan Russell who’s 6’5″, 275 pounds, and pretty athletic, running a 4.7 in the 40.

He only had a couple of sacks in 2014 but that was more related to the scheme he played in than his ability. The Purdue Boilermakers switched their defense to the 3-4, where he was unable to use his burst off the edge. But if the Raiders take him and Tuck takes him under his wing, he can become a good player.
