Talented linebacker Rolando McClain has had way more than his fair share of second chances in the NFL. And the funny thing about it is every time he screws up, he’s rewarded with a better team to play for. If his visit with the New England Patriots goes well today, he will have screwed his way up to possibly a Super Bowl title.

He was cut by the Raiders after having a tantrum at practice and being kicked off the field by his coach. He then gets picked up by the Baltimore Ravens, can’t pass his conditioning test and quits on them. Then the Dallas Cowboys, desperate for a linebacker, trade for him, he plays well and they make a playoff run.

He started with the worst team in the NFL and has made his way up to a playoff team already. And now, he’s visiting the 2014 Super Bowl Champions after he just failed a drug test. The man is quite a talent but you gotta wonder why a guy that’s screwed up so much gets this many chances.

It’s not like he’s an All-Pro.

I guess in the super-competitive world that is the NFL, all it takes is a desperate need at your position. The Patriots are literally hurting and linebacker with Dont’a Hightower and Jerrod Mayo having injuries. Of the two, Hightower looks like he’s the one that’s going to have to miss a significant amount of time.

McClain is also reportedly in negotiations with Cowboys so he’s in a good position.

He would have been re-signed already if he didn’t fail that drug test.

Screw up and come up!
