2015 NFL Draft Prospects In Trouble

Cornerback prospect P.J. Williams dropped on a few draft boards at the 2015 NFL scouting combine after running a 4.57 40-yard dash. So he goes back to the drawing board with his track coach and comes back to run a 4.48 at his pro day. At that point, he proved that he can run so there was a buzz around him again with the first round not out of reach.

But then, between his pro day, and the draft, when he’s supposed to be laying low, Williams gets in trouble. He was arrested a little after 3 AM this morning for driving under the influence of alcohol and on a suspended license. The NFL personnel world already had a little question about his character from a situation in October where he fled the scene of an accident.

His accident was in the wee hours as well so now, some can look at the possibility of alcohol being involved then since he fled the scene. Either way, this is the worst thing he could have done at the worst time with the draft so close after he ran a better 40. If you can’t stay out of trouble when you’re in the evaluation process, your ability to do the right thing is in question.

Another disturbing thing about this is it happened not long after outside linebacker prospect Anthony Gregory failed a drug test. Gregory himself failed a few drug tests back at Nebraska, showing he’s a potential repeat offender just like Williams. The thing here is both of these players faltered during the evaluation process, the time where most people no to stay clean.

I fail to understand what these kids are thinking.

Drugs and alcohol are addictions considered to be diseases.

So do these kids fall under this category?

Are they just mistakes in the learning process of life?

Or are they just stupid, risking what they worked so hard for all of their respective lives?
