Two-time Pro Bowl safety Dashon Goldson was traded today to finish getting rid of the expensive players the don’t fit head coach Lovie Smith’s system. Last year, they got rid of corner Darrelle Revis and safety Mark Barron to start the process. Goldson now gets the opportunity to reclaim his career in Washington D.C. after two horrible years in Tampa Bay.

This is a no-risk high reward for the Redskins who are badly in need of a safety and now can use a high draft choice to address another need. The Buccaneers are the ones that will absorb his guaranteed $4 million in 2015 and his guaranteed money is out after that. So if they don’t end up getting Pro Bowl caliber safety he was, they can easily cut ties with him.

And again, for the Buccaneers, they get rid of another player that doesn’t fit their system. Smith is a slave to that Tampa-2 system the same way Philadelphia Eagles head coach Chip Kelly is a slave to his uptempo spread offense. But the Tampa-2 got Smith to a Super Bowl after 2006 season the as well as a lot of Top-10 defenses so there’s reason for Smith to choose his system over players.
