Can someone please help me understand this?

According to NFL insider Albert Breer, edge-rusher prospect Shane Ray just made draft stock tumble. It’s bad enough that he came up with an injury that he may or may not need surgery for. But Monday morning, he was cited for misdemeanor possession of up to 35 grams of marijuana by the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

It all started when Ray was stopped for speeding at 5:46 a.m. as he was was also issued a citation for failure to drive in the right lane. It was reported that Ray was cooperative and didn’t show signs of impairment. Released at the scene, Ray was never taken to the police station and is due in court on June 30.

As reported by Breer on NFL.com, Shane Ray failed a drug test early on in his career at Missouri. He also reported that over the last three months, clubs had shown a willingness to overlook that. But after Monday morning’s incident, all bets are off when it comes to Ray’s draft status.

Ray was viewed as a potential top-10 pick and a first-round lock early in the draft process. And as I said before, he just piled this on top of his health concerns three days before he would be drafted. Ray can forget about all that Top-10 noise now and could tumble out of the first round all together.

I wouldn’t use a first round pick on this kid.
