11. Minnesota Vikings

If I’m the Vikings, I’m doing everything I can to try to trade out of the #11 overall selection at this point. I was excited at the idea of Brandon Scherff possibly falling to Minnesota, but the rug was swept out from under me at the last moment. Running back was a position that wasn’t even considered despite a lot of attention from the media about needing to replace Adrian Peterson. Perhaps if trades were allowed, Adrian could have been dealt on draft day, but without that possibility, a running back isn’t anywhere near the top of the list as far as team needs go. Despite needing a cornerback and Trae Waynes being the best available, there are a couple other corners in this draft class that represent close enough to equal value that a trade down would have been the best case situation. With the trade unable to happen, Minnesota selects a player that should be able to step in right away opposite Xavier Rhodes and help make the team’s defense even more formidable. Fans shouldn’t be too disappointed with Waynes as a consolation prize. Although some media outlets are stating that the hype surrounding Waynes is more powerful than his play on the field, the cornerback fills a position of need, is a day one starter, and has the toughness needed to be a “Mike Zimmer guy”. <p>-Adam Carlson, <a href=.
