With the No. 13 overall pick in the 2015 NFL draft, the New Orleans Saints selected tackle Andrus Peat. Quarterback Drew Brees still has it at age 36 but he’s not at an age where he can take too much punishment.  Brees needs to be protected and Peat is just the guy to come in and help do that.

In 2014, Peat was voted second-team All-American by the A.P. and was an Outland Trophy semifinalist. He is 6’7″, 313 pounds with long arms and suprisingly quick feet for a man of his size. His thick lower body and good knee bend allows him to easily anchor against a bull rush.

He has an excellent kick slide, good hand placement and a good understanding of protections from his pro style offense. He can also maul you in the running game as he is a powerful drive blocker with explosive hips. He has also played against some great pass-rushers in the Pac-12 so he’s as pro ready as he needs to be.

The Saints are already pretty good at the tackles but can use a guard these.

With Peat now there, one of those tackles will be moved to guard.
