The New York Giants have selected tackle Eric Flowers from Miami witht the No. 9 pick in the draft. If you look at the history of the Giants since Eli Manning has been there, you’ll see they win every year he has protection. And when he doesn’t have that protection, they end up having losing seasons.
To they had to find a tackle that can protect the quarterback from what I’ve seen of him in college, he is that guy. At 6’6″, 330 pounds, and bench pressing 225 pounds 37 times, Flowers is the Giants’ type of guys as he is a mauler. He also gets out of his stance quickly and has good feet to redirect to deal with edge-rushers.
Flowers is a bender who is the low man off the snap to gain leverage pn a defender at the point. Those long arms and big paws along with that upper-body power and feet will have him ready to go in and ball right away. He has played both tackle positions so he the Giants will have a position for him to play in 2015.
