In somewhat of a surprise, the Carolina Panthers select Shaq Thompson in the first round. He’s a really good overall football player but many had him going in the second or third round. But the 4-3 outside linebacker is a playmaker that will come in and help the Panthers right away.

After selecting Thompson to make plays for the defense the Panthers turn their attention to the offense. And in the the second round of the draft, they select receiver Devin Funchess. I thought he would get drafted as a tight end but the Panthers already have Greg Olson at the position.

So you can team Funchess up with Kelvin Benjamin and get size mismatches on the outside all day. The Panters got Michael Oher in free agency and it looks like their going to try him on for size at left tackle. We’ll see how well he protects quarterback Cam Newtons blindside while Newton has tons of room for error with the big receivers he has.
. OLB. Washington. Shaq Thompson. 1. player. 87
