College

When comparing what quarterbacks did in college, a statistical comparison usually isn’t the way. First off, you have so many different offensive systems in college football requiring different skill-sets. Then you have the different levels of competition as there are so many schools, varying in size and prestige.

But both Winston and Luck played in pro style offenses and in Power-5 Conferences so this is fair. In three years, Luck threw for 9,430 yards, 82 TDs, 22 INTs and a quarterback rating of 162.8. In two years, Winston threw for 7,964 yards, 65 touchdowns, 28 interceptions and a rating of 163.3.

Luck fans are going to use Wintson’s 18-interception year against him when making a case for Luck. Winston fans will point to his 26-1 record as a starter to Luck’s 31-7 plus the Heisman Trophy and National Championship. But I’ll just say that they were both highly decorated going in and there is a Case to say Winston can make that same impact right away in the NFL.
