The Washington Redskins took offensive tackle Brandon Scherff No. 5 overall in the 2015 NFL Draft. There were many the scoffed at it, saying, “You don’t take a guard or right tackle that high.” But the truth of the matter is Scherff is exactly who the Redskins should have used the pick on.

Head coach Jay Gruden has a little of his brother Jon (Gruden) in him, liking smash-mouth football. But with the offensive line they have as a whole, the Redskins won’t smash anyone’s mouth. Plus Gruden is trying to turn quarterback Robert Griffin III into a pocket quarterback and allowing him to be chased around isn’t the way.

So this selection will go a long way toward getting the Redskins out of the NFC East cellar.
