College

Gordon was a dominant as you can get in college as the put up video game type numbers as Wisconsin. For his career, Gordon rushed for 4,915 yards, 45 touchdowns and 7.8 yards per carry in four years. However, he only had 82 carries in his first two years combined so most of his damage came in his last two years.

But he would save the best for last as he closed his college career with a bang heard around the nation. He rushed for a No. 2 all-time 2,587 yards, with 29 touchdowns and 7.5 yard per carry. Only the incomparable Barry Sanders had more yards rushing in a season while in college.

And for his efforts, Gordon won the Doak Walker Award for the nation’s top running back. He was also Jim Brown Trophy winner, All-Big-10 and the Big-10 Player of the Year. I thought he should have won the Heisman Trophy but you can forget about that when there’s a quarterback up for the award.
