Defensive lineman Mario Edwards Jr., an athletic freak at is size, was the No. 1 recruit out of high school. Most No. 1 high school recruits dominate college football and become first-round picks. Fellow athletic freak and defensive end Jadeveon Clowney went on to get drafted No. 1 overall last year.

But Edwards would not get drafted so high as many would consider him a bust in college. Bust in college is a strong word but eight sacks in three years isn’t exactly a successful collegiate career. Then he showed his freaky athleticism at the 2015 NFL Scouting Combine and it created a buzz.

The kid has talent undeniable but his weight, motor and underachiever label made him deniable in the first round. So the Raiders see him right there at No. 35 and pull the trigger because they see what they can do with them. And if it’s what I believe their going to do, he’s going to be an immediate impact and have a great career.

Turn the page to see what that is.
