Bottom Line

Bridgewater had the better quarterback rating both in regular situations and against the blitz. But against the blitz is just against the blitz because if your team picks it up, you’re in position to make a play. Carr actually did a better of finding his hot reads with rushers coming but since he didn’t have receivers that could run after the catch his quarterback rating went down.

He took less sacks, which isn’t always under the control of the quarterback but it often is and Bridgewater did hold on to the ball. The Raiders had the toughest schedule in 2014 too with all the top defenses while the Vikings schedule wasn’t that tough. Bridgewater had five games against teams that were among the worst against the pass defenses.

So what am I trying to say here?

Last year was a total wash as neither of them definitively showed they were better than the other. They both appear to have much better supporting casts with the Vikings having the better running game and Raiders having the better No. 1 receiver. On November 15, we’ll find out who’s really ahead of who as an NFL quarterback as the defenses they have are comparable.

Stay tuned Vikings and Raiders fans.
