If you’re and Oakland Raiders fan worried about 2014 second-round quarterback Derek Carr, you can stop now. NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport reported Monday that Carr has been cleared for participation in minicamp, according to a source informed of his prognosis. Rapoport did say that Carr might not throw at full strength during the minicamp practices
However, he is expected to be “100 percent” for the start of training camp as he is on the right path back from a finger injury. Carr has been fighting through some sort of issue in his ring finger that has kept him from throwing regularly during the Raiders’ offseason program. He managed to throw a few short passes last week during OTAs, but has mostly handed the ball off when not watching from the sidelines.
The Raiders have been as tight-lipped as can be about the injury, but it now looks like things will be fine. Above all, the team is confident the finger isn’t a long-term concern so the Raiders are on track to have their quarterback for the 2015 season. So whatever fears or concerns Raider fan may have had, we’re not talking about anything as of now because Carr will be back.
