When Leonard Williams first got to the New York Jets, he was a bit nervous as he openly admitted. He sees there is a new playbook, new defensive system and new teammates he had to learn. And along with all of this new stuff he has to learn, he has the same high expectations on him.

Williams was star defensive lineman at USC and is expected to be a just that with the Jets as a rookie. But the No. 6 overall has since gotten over it, saying he’s “ready to roll” on Thursday. Jets head coach Todd Bowles is satisfied with Williams so far, telling N.J.com, “His quickness, both with his hands and his feet, has been readily apparent. Right now, for two-hand touch, he’s playing pretty well.”

Now obviously, it’s impossible to truely evaluate a defensive lineman when there’s no pads involved. But Williams is at least showing the traits that made him such a highly touted prospect and why the Jets pick him No. 6 overall. The versatile Williams has worked at a few spots along the Jets’ defensive line during the three days of minicamp.

He did that while in college, which caused him to draw comparisons to J.J. Watt. The thing I’m most interested in is where he will be in the rotation as training camp will soon decide that. The Jets run a 3-4 with Mohamed Wilkerson and Sheldon Richardson, two beasts, at the ends and you know they don’t Williams at nose tackle.
