All is not lost for the Jacksconville Jaguars after No. 3 overall edge-rusher Dante Fowler’s knee injury. For they still have second-round pick T.J. Yeldon, who would have been a first-round pick if not for injuries in 2014. The 6’1″, 226-pound running back has impressed the Jaguars with his change-of-direction and versatility already in minicamps and OTAs.
He has really shown his versatility as a runner and receiver as well as noteworthy quickness as a runner. He’s also known as a good pass protector, coming from a pro style offense in college. And so far, Yeldon has been so impressive, the Jaguars are expecting him to be the bell cow back as a rookie.
Just in minicamps and OTA’s he has already made fans of Jaguars brass and the coaching staff. He’s even made fans of fellow offensive mates and it doesn’t stop there, Jaguars defensive players are impressed too. Jaguars middle linebacker Paul Posluszny is among the defensive players on the Jaguars he impressed the most.
Posluszny gushed to Jaguars.com about Yeldon, “He looks really good in short-area change of direction. He looks really, really good there. It’s, ‘How does a guy move in space? How athletic is he?’ That’s what stands out. With him, he definitely has it.”
Quarterback Blake Bortles who the Jaguars believe is their franchise quarterback and he has a good receiver corps. They fixed the offensive line to protect him this offseason and run the ball too. Their defense, despite missing Fowler this year still looks pretty good as they were okay last year.
And they’ll be helped by a running back that ran the zone-blocking scheme in college so his transition will be seamless.
