H-Back

Offensive coordinator Bill Musgrave is usually an H-back kind of guy so look for more of than this year. H-backs are usually in motion pre-snap so defenses will show if they are in man or zone. And if opposing teams try to cover Reece with a linebacker or safety, it’s time to check into something down the field for Reece.

That’s something Hue Jackson did a good job with and Reece made his share of big under Jackson. But the regime after Jackson didn’t seem to know how to use Reece in an offense as he either blocked, caught a pass in the flats, or ran the ball. Having the receivers the Raiders have now with the running game is going open up thing for Reece to sneak in big plays.

Reece is best used to sneak in a big play with opposed to having him featured in your offense. And lining up at H-back and being put in motion is going to allow Reece to sneak up on teams in man coverage. He’ll be another vertical weapon Carr can use his big arm to get the ball down the field to.
