The Detroit Lions were looking to improve their running game to go with their air attack this offseason. And they started up front by selecting mammoth guard Laken Tomlinson No. 28 overall. And the Lions aren’t giving him anything as he has run with the twos more than not in training camp.

Tomlinson handled that in workman fashion from camp to his first preseason game Thursday night. Starting center Travis Swanson started and ended up playing one series with Tomlinson. But it was when Swanson went to the sidelines that he was able to evaluate Tomlinson’s performance.

He told the Detoit Free Press, “What I saw from him when I was on the sidelines, he’s going to be a great player. He’s got phenomenal potential and it’s something that you can definitely see in practice and he showed it in this game. I think coaches and players are going to be impressed by what they see.”
