Manziel’s Journey

As a rookie last year, Manziel seemed to have a sense of entitlement, thinking he was already the guy. He was a highly decorated college legend, unfortunately as much for partying as for football. And trying to remain a party legend left him unprepared when his number was called last year.

That cost him the locker room and had his business aired out, creating a bad perception of him. So after a stint in alcohol rehab and working with Jon Gruden, he was ready to rehab his career. His first mission was to regain the trust of his teammates, who noticed a change during the offseason program.

Cornerback Joe Haden told Cleveland.com” “I can see just him trying to be involved a little bit more in the offense “[I see] him studying a lot more, him being in the facility a lot more. Him being involved with his coaches, just staying after and getting that one-on-one and being able to understand what he has to do. Just a different mentality. I’m really excited about it.”
