Randall Cobb got paid this offseason so he can remain the explosive weapon at Rodgers’ disposal. So the guy that’s likely to take Nelson’s role as the possession and red-zone receiver is Davante Adams. As a rookie last year, Adams had 38 catches for 446 yards and three touchdowns on 66 targets.

And as the year went on, Rodgers started to develop a chemistry and trust-factor with Adams. When the Packers made it to the NFC divisional round, Rodgers leaned heavily lean on him. Tied for a team-high with Cobb on the day, Rodgers targeted him 11 times and Adams rewarded that trust.

Adams caught seven of those passes for a team-high 117 yards and had one touchdown on the day. That’s 11 targets in a playoff game, where the stakes are at their highest and it’s all on the line. And with a return like that, he surely already gained a lot of Rodgers trust for this year as it is.
