Going into the 2014 football season, Ty Montgomery was at Stanford, projected, as a 1st-round pick. But his quarterback, Ben Hogan, was horrible last year so he couldn’t have good year himself. That lead to the Packers taking him in the third round but he has the explosion and run-after-the catch ability of a 1st-round pick.

Montgomery has impressed the Packers with that explosion since his arrival and after seeing it on the practice field early in training camp, head coach Mike McCarthy told Foxsports.com he was, “Very impressed! He obviously has a ton of explosion in his body. I thought he definitely stood out.”

Before Nelson’s injury, Montgomery had already made his way up to the No. 4 receiver position. But now, Due to the “next man up” mantra, it looks like he will end up making a jump up to No. 3. Montgomery’s 1st-round talent will serve the Packers well as the new No. 3 receiver on the team.
