Trey Waynes is one of those guys that wasn’t that highly regarded of a prospect early in the offseason. One of the knocks on Waynes was that he grabbed a lot downfield and was flagged for it at times. That doesn’t bode well for the NFL because after five yards, you can’t touch a receiver and they will always flag you for it.

But once he ran a 4.31 at the NFL Souting Combine, the Minnesota Vikings figured they could coach that grabbing out of him. But after they took him No. 11 overall, they couldn’t coach it out of him right away. As a result, in his first preseason game, he had three penalties called on him and allowed three catches in six targets.

Then in the second preseason game against the Raiders, he was beaten badly but the ball went off the receiver’s hands. That was pretty early in the game and he made some progress with a pass defensed later in the game. He had an F for after the first game but got a little better in the second so he and the Vikings get a D.
. CB. Clemson Tigers. TRAE WAYNES. D
