Elated that Parker was still there at No. 14 overall, the Dolphins probably ran to the podium with the pick. But the Dolphins are going to have to wait awhile to use Parker due to surgery he had done on his foot this offseason. So in turn, I have to wait a while to give a progress report grade about this pick and call it incomplete.

The Mike Wallace experiment didn’t work out very well for the Miami Dolphins last year. So they went into this past offseason needing a No. 1 receiver for star quarterback Ryan Tannehill. And Devante Parker had more receiving yards than anyone in college football over the second half of the season.
His the size, speed, route-runing, hands and ability to go up and get it allowed him to do that. The aforementioned traits are the sum of all the parts it takes to be a No. 1 receiver in the NFL. He also played in a pro-style offense so to me, he was more ready to make an immediate impact than Kevin White.
