Minnesota Vikings No. 11 overall Trey Waynes is learning that running a 4.31 40 guarrantees you nothing. He’s also learning that he can’t get away with grabbing receivers down the field like he did in school. He needs to start using that size and length he has within the rules of the game.

That means once your man is five yards past the line of scrimmage, let him go and do not touch him again. Waynes had problems with that back in school at times even though he got away with more back then. From what I could see of Waynes, the grabbing is due to his stiff hips, a part of his scouting report coming out.

But once he ran a 4.31 at the NFL Souting Combine, the Vikings figured they could coach that grabbing out of him. We can see now that he has a ways to go with that and his hips but he is getting better. It’s not hard to look better than he did in the first preseason game but he is progressing.
. CB.
