New Regime

Any time there’s a new regime that comes in, if you’re not a returning star, nothing is promised to you. New coaches are going to have their own idea about how to play the game and what works. So it’s up to the player to show the new coaches that they can do what it takes to win their way.

More times than not, any new coach or coaches that get hired leave another team to take that job. The coaches had to have some success where they were in order to get hired at another place too. That was the case with Ken Norton Jr., who was previously a linebackers coach for the Seattle Seahawks Super Bowl teams.

And in this era of free agency, these coaches have players that are loyal to them and follow them wherever they go. You can always tell how good coach is by how much the player want to play for him. And of course, Norton had a player come with him from Seattle that knew what he wanted so any existing player has to be on board.
