Running Backs: Anywhere

The running back position has been devalued as all drafts are centered around helping or disrupting the quarterback. Then fact that 2012 No. 3 overall Trent Richardson is a bust probably didn’t do the position any favors. Speaking of which, personnel people might want to be careful when looking into the SEC for running backs.

The Pac-12 was once known for it’s running backs, particularly when John Robinson was head coach with guys like O.J. Simpson and Marcus Allen. Today, the Pac-12 is represented by Marshawn Lynch and Justin Forsett from California. The ACC is represented by Jim Brown, the best ever, the six other Hall of Famers and Frank Gore today.

The Big-10 is represented by Hall of Famer Franco Harris from Penn State and Le’Veon Bell from Michigan State today. The Big-12 is represented by Adrian Peterson and Demarco Murray from Oklahoma today and guys like Barry Sanders from Oklahoma State in the past. The SEC has Emmitt Smith from the past and Arian Foster from today to show that running backs come from everywhere.
