No. 3 Cardale Jones

Before I actually made a Top-5 2016 quarterback prospects list, Ohio State’s Cardale Jones was No. 1 in my mind. I tend to like quarterbacks that win championships and play well in big games. But after looking at him on tape, he sometimes gets away with his poor mechanics but it causes his accuracy to be inconsistent.

He has the size and the arm strength the NFL covets but his offense requires him to execute one-read throws with easy check-down options. Head coach Urban Meyer isn’t exactly known for his quarterbacks being pro ready. Jones may need to stay in school another year to develop going through his progressions, improving his completion percentage.

He also still has a small sample size to as he only came down the stretch for Ohio State last year. So far this year, he has completed 50 percent of his passes vs Virginia and 66 vs Hawaii. Again, I like him big games so I will keep him at No. 3 for now but he’s going to have to pick it up for me to keep him there.
