Deal: Indianapolis acquires Jahri Evans from the New Orleans Saints for a 5th Round Pick

The Indianapolis Colts are in a tough situation because they are a team with Super Bowl aspirations but are off to a terrible start. Indianapolis can overcome a 0-2 start but without improved offensive line play they are in major trouble.

Anthony Castonzo and Jack Mewhort are young players who are entrenched as starters at the tackle positions. However, there’s room for improvement at the guard position where Lance Louis has struggled thus far this year.

General Manager Ryan Grigson is one of the more aggressive front office people in the NFL and isn’t afraid to make a big splash. In the past, Grigson has struck deals for big-name players like Trent Richardson and Vontae Davis.

Indianapolis has a chance to take advantage of the New Orleans Saints poor start and potentially work a deal for Jahri Evans. This deal would be a risk as Evans is owed over $23 million over the next three seasons, according to sportrac.com.

However, Evans would represent a major upgrade at the position and provide some stability to interior of the offensive line. The Colts must do whatever is necessary to provide more time for Andrew Luck and open lanes for the running game.
