Minnesota Vikings. TRAE WAYNES. C-.
The plan the Minnesota Vikings had for No. 11 overall Trey Waynes coming in was for him to start Week 1. But that hasn’t materialized as Waynes got his first action at corner in Week 3 vs the San Diego Chargers. He was actually solid playing in the place of starting corner Xavier Rhodes, who was out with a concussion.

I thought that game was enough to give Waynes a bigger role in the defense but it wasn’t to be. Rhodes would come back for Week 4 against the Denver Broncos and Waynes would go back to the bench. I raised his grade from the last time because he showed a marked improvement in his play.

But I can’t give him a high grade because he’s not giving the Vikings what they wanted when they picked him. Not starting is one thing but not having a role on the team other than backing a player up isn’t enough. And at the same time, a player that could make an immediate impact would have the Vikings in a better postion right now.
. CB
