Cleveland Browns. DANNY SHELTON. B+.
The days of simply running the ball up the middle, to beat the Cleveland Browns are supposed to be over. Nose tackle Danny Shelton, a 6’2″, 340-pounder, was taken No. 12 overall to put an end to those days. Those days haven’t ended but it is through no fault of Shelton, who walks opposing centers and guards back.

He has definitely done his part, occupying double teams and still doesn’t get pushed backwards. There are times that he pushes the center back so quickly, the running back has to hurry up and cut before he wants to. But his linebackers haven’t been there to make the plays for him.

You can’t tell that he going to be a dominant player at some point but he’s not quite there yet. But he does his job well and needs his linebackers to do their job well in order to pick their run defense up. This was a good pick by the Browns, you just won’t see the bennefits from it until the linebacker position is fixed.
. NT
