The New Orleans Saints took Peat No. 13 overall with hopes that he takes the right tackle job. But he did nothing but struggle this preseason so the job will not be his for the forseeable future. When you pick No. 13 overall, you should be looking for something a little better than that.

But Zach Strief, the starting right tackle who’s been in the NFL for last 10 years, will keep his job. A pick in the first round for his eventual replacement is good for a team that just won a Super Bowl. That means you already have the best team in the NFL and you’re trying to get insurance for your older players.

But Strief isn’t great and the Saints didn’t make the playoffs so this pick was a total miss for them so far. He struggled early on with his conditioning at beginning of training camp so there’s a desire question right there. Between he and Johnathan Marin, the NFL could stop looking for left tackles from Stanford in the first round.
. OT. New Orleans Saints. ANDRUS PEAT. F
