San Diego Chargers. MELVIN GORDON. B+.
The San Diego Chargers missed the playoffs by one game last year, losing a few close games in the process. A big part of the problem is they didn’t have the running game to put games away. Now, they have running back Melvin Gordon to take care of that and those other parts aren’t playing as well as they did last year.

Quarterback Philip Rivers is still elite as he is No. 5 in the NFL in passing yards and tied for eighth in TDs. Gordon is doing his part, averaging 4.3 yards per carry while he’s No. 14 in the NFL in rushing. He’s currently on pace to rush for over 1,ooo yards but the Chargers are giving it back and then some on the ground.

The Chargers are No. 29 in the NFL against the run while giving up a tied-for-worst 4.9 yards per carry. I don’t care who you are, you’re not going to win a lot of ball games if you can’t stop the run. I thought Gordon was going to make the Chargers contenders with the rest of what they have but it’s not his fault they can’t stop the run.
. RB
